About Phuket Cricket Week 2014
The continuing success and growth of the Phuket International Cricket Sixes tournament, which was first staged in 2004, has led to the creation of the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour’s “Phuket Cricket Week” which features three cricket tournaments for overseas and local cricket teams and spectators to enjoy held from 10th – 21st April: a Cricket 7s tournament, a Beach Cricket tournament and of course the Phuket International Cricket Sixes. Twenty cricket teams from around the world are anticipated to be competing during Phuket Cricket Week.

During Phuket Cricket Week funds will be raised for the Phuket Junior Cricket Development Fund which provides funding towards junior cricket activities in Phuket. In 2011, 158,000 baht was raised for the Fund through the activities of ACST volunteers and the generosity of the teams.

About the Kata Group International Cricket 7s (15th April)
The Kata Group International Cricket 7s is a new tournament for 2012, developed to cater for the increasing demand from teams to play cricket during Phuket Cricket Week. Up to sixteen teams will compete in this new tournament which features a novel seven-a-side format, rather than the traditional six-a-side, giving the fielding team captain the advantage of an additional fielder. The Team Captains’ Meeting took place on 8th April and matches will be played at the Alan Cooke Sports Ground from 10th – 11th, followed by a presentation at the Ground.

About the Karon Sea Sands Beach Cricket Tournament
The Beach Cricket Tournament is always popular with the teams and supporters participating in the Phuket Sixes and will also this year feature teams from the Karon Sevens. The Beach Cricket takes place this year on th April from noon to 6pm at Karon beach.

About the Phuket International Cricket Sixes 2013

Now in its tenth year the ICC award winning Phuket International Cricket Sixes was first staged in 2004. This year the Sixes will feature up to 28 teams, plus supporters and officials from around the world, and will be played at the Alan Cooke Sports Ground for the first time.

THE CRICKET SIXES CONCEPT

\"\"
Cricket Sixes is a short form of the sport of cricket where six players make up each team rather than the traditional eleven. In some ways the idea is similar to Rugby Sevens in that each Cricket Sixes match is designed to incorporate all the most exciting aspects of the sport: high scores, fast action and exciting match finishes.

Now recognised worldwide, the Sixes format is a definite “crowd-pleaser” with each match lasting about 45 minutes.
