Montpelier Group to Title Sponsor Phuket International Cricket Sixes 2007

Organisers of the fourth annual Phuket International Cricket Sixes tournament, to take place at Karon Stadium, Phuket from 19th–22nd April, today confirmed that the financial services group Montpelier had become the title sponsors of the award-winning tournament.

“We’re delighted that Montpelier will headline sponsor the Phuket Sixes,” said Tournament Director, Mr Brad Tarr.

“After the Sixes scooped regional and global awards from the International Cricket Council last year, it is fitting that a company such as Montpelier, one of the largest financial and taxation advisors in the world, came on board,” said Mr Tarr.

The Montpelier Phuket International Cricket Sixes 2007

Over 20 teams from around the Asia region and the world will compete over four days at the Karon Stadium, Phuket from 19th–22nd April 2007 in the fourth edition of this annual tournament.

Entry for spectators is free and all are welcome. Food and refreshments are available at the ground.

A Twenty20 Charity Fund-raising match, featuring all the best players from the tournament, will be held at the Karon Stadium on the evening of Saturday 21st April from 6.30pm. All proceeds from the match will be donated to local children’s charity, Childwatch.

The Phuket International Cricket Sixes was put firmly on the world cricketing map last year by being awarded both the “Best Spirit of Cricket Initiative Award” by the Asian Cricket Council and also the “Best Spirit of Cricket Initiative Award (Global)“ by the International Cricket Council, for contributing to the development of cricket in Phuket and Thailand.
